Blue sabre on the podium twice thanks to Amelio Castro’s silver in category B and Edoardo Giordan’s bronze in category A

BRADENTON (USA) – First day of the American leg of the Paralympic World Cup and immediately two medals. The double joy comes from the sabre where the new blue athlete Amelio Castro wins silver in category B. Success also in category A with the bronze of Edoardo Giordan.

A dream day for Amelio Castro. All that was missing was the official recognition of Italian citizenship, and here it is that in his debut with the blue jersey he immediately wins a medal. In Florida, the athlete from Fiamme Oro defeated the Korean Park in the round of 16 (15-4) and then secured the podium by beating the Brazilian Chaves 15-1.

Great performance also in the semifinals where the blue athlete wins 15-12 against the Chinese Zhu. In the final, he faces his namesake, the Polish Adrian Castro, but the new Italian loses 15-10. In any case, a beautiful silver medal is achieved for a debut to remember.

Satisfaction also in category A where Edoardo Giordan wins the bronze medal for his 31st podium in his career in the World Cup. The Italian started with victories first against the American Reeve (15-2) and then against the British Lam Watson (15-6).

The certainty of the medal comes by defeating the Polish Ziomek 15-2. In the semifinals, it’s the turn of the German Schmidt (who later won the competition against the Chinese Li) who wins 15-14. For the Italian, it is still the fourth podium in four seasonal competitions after the gold in Nakhon, the silver in Pisa, and the bronze in Budapest.
