The Italian men’s national volleyball team wins the second match of the VNL against Germany 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 33-31)
OTTAWA (CANADA) – ItalVolley bounces back immediately in Volleyball Nations League. After the defeat in their debut against France, the Azzurri win a tightly contested match against Germany, coached by Italian Massimo Botti, with a score of 3-1 (25-20, 20-25, 25-21, 33-31).
It is a very young team called up by coach De Giorgi for this Week 1 of the tournament, with an average age of 24 years but with great determination and a desire to grow enough to defeat an opponent that is almost complete and much more experienced. Thus, the first 3 crucial points in the overall standings are secured.
The National team will return to the field on Saturday, June 13 (1:30 AM on June 14 in Italy) for the third challenge of Pool 1 of VNL against Turkey. The match will be broadcast live on DAZN and on the OTT platform VBTV.

These are the words of Gabriele Laurenzano: “It was a very intense match. We suffered, but we held our ground. Yesterday we played five sets just like them, and that probably showed. It was a battle to see who could hold on the longest. Fortunately, we won it; we played very well and we are really happy about it. The next two challenges against Turkey and the United States will be two more tough matches. We have already faced the Turks in the pre-VNL friendlies and we know how they play; the United States, on the other hand, has always been a great team and a really tricky opponent to face.
We will take advantage of this day off from matches to rest and have another training session, so we can improve a bit more. Then we will see how things go.”
The comment from Alessandro Bovolenta: “Today I came in during the second set and we immediately brought energy to the match. There were some refereeing decisions that we didn’t agree with, but we are happy with the final result, with the victory, and that is what matters most to us. I am really happy, first of all because we won and also because I played. But what matters most to me is that the team won this match. The next two challenges against Turkey and the United States will still be tough. We need to be ready and come onto the court focused and prepared.”
