The Umana Reyer Venice beats Tortona in Game 5 89-83 and secures the Playoff semifinal against the Italian champions Virtus Bologna
MESTRE – It was a very tough match, decided only in the final moments. A fitting conclusion for a series that seemed already written after the first two games won by Venezia and reopened by a never-giving-up Tortona that managed to bring everything to Game 5. Once again, the home factor was decisive, and here in the Playoff semifinals with Virtus Bologna, Reyer goes again, winning 89-83.
A match always on a knife’s edge with the orogranata who, after being down 7-9 just 3 minutes into the game, take the lead and stay there until the end. Venezia even manages to go up by +12 twice, but Bertram never gives up, closing the gap to 75-74 with 5 minutes left on the clock.
Decisive were the last seconds in which Reyer went back up by 6 only to be caught again at 85-83. Captain Tessitori (along with Cole the best on the court) takes care of closing it out. The orogranata thus secure the eighth semifinal in their history since their return to Serie A fourteen years ago.
The race for the 2026 championship will once again pass through the Virtus Arena where on Saturday, May 30, Reyer will face in Game 1 Virtus Olidata Bologna.
