The author will participate in three events dedicated to the relationship between economy, person, and the common good. On August 26, there will be a discussion with Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco in the meeting “Integral Humanism and Civil Economy”
RIMINI – The relationship between economy, person, and common good, in the current phase of profound social and productive transformations, will be at the center of the meeting “Integral Humanism and Civil Economy”, scheduled for August 26 at the Rimini Meeting 2026.
Among the protagonists of the event will be Benedetto Delle Site, national president of the UCID Youth Movement and author of the book The Social Doctrine of the Church. The Prophecy of Leo XIII in the Time of Leo XIV, published by Historica Edizioni with a preface by Cardinal Angelo Bagnasco.
Bagnasco himself will be among the speakers at the meeting and will bring into the debate the perspective of the social teaching of the Church, exploring its relationship with the main challenges of contemporary economics.
The volume of Delle Site starts from the Rerum Novarum and the main encyclicals of Leo XIII, retracing the birth and development of the Church’s social doctrine up to the issues that today concern the world of work, business, and the economy. The reference to Leo XIV in the title aims to emphasize the continuity and, at the same time, the relevance of this tradition.
The presence of the book at the Meeting, which this year will also see the participation of Pope Leo XIV, will not be limited to the appointment on August 26 in the CDO Arena. In fact, two more presentations are scheduled, both with the participation of the author.
The first meeting will be held on Friday, August 21 at 12:30 PM at the UCID stand, in Pavilion C1. Along with Delle Site, Michael Severance, Senior Fellow of the Acton Institute; Domenico Menorello, coordinator of the “Ditelo sui tetti” network; and Antonino Giannone, professor at the Politecnico di Torino, will participate. The moderator will be Gabriele Fontana, deputy secretary of UCID of the Lombardy Group.
The second presentation is scheduled for Monday, August 24 at 12 PM at the “Associations for Life” stand, in Pavilion A2. The discussion will feature Lorenzo Malagola, secretary of the Labor Commission of the Chamber of Deputies; don Gabriele Mangiarotti, director of CulturaCattolica.it; Marina Casini, president of the Italian Movement for Life, connected via video; and Marco Invernizzi, head of Alleanza Cattolica. The debate will be coordinated by Daniele Barale, journalist of Tempi.
The three appointments will thus bring to the Meeting a reflection on the relevance of the Church’s social doctrine, through the volume by Delle Site and the dialogue with representatives from the ecclesial, political, academic, and associative worlds.
