VIDEO | “The third year is the turning point: the whole human has found a more consistent definition” Interview with Mons. Gianni Fusco at the 3rd Festival of the Whole Human

ROME. — Mons. Gianni Fusco, spiritual assistant of the UCID youth, participated in the 3rd Festival of the Whole Human Being held on June 16-17, 2026, at the Pio Sodalizio dei Piceni. On the sidelines of the event, we met with him for a review of the edition.

Monsignor Fusco, can you comment on this edition? What was the atmosphere like?

As she said, we are in the third year of this festival. Generally, when organizing a festival, the first year is the excitement of the moment, the second year is to confirm what has already been done, the third year is the turning point — the one that looks to the future.

From this, it is understood that things have gone really well. The expression coined by Saint John Paul II — “the whole human” — has found this year a much more detailed and consistent definition in all the areas where one wanted to see man as a person: in his relational reality, a protagonist in all areas of social and family life.

Is there an ecclesial document that has accompanied this edition?

It was a grace from God that, almost twenty days ago, Pope Leo XIV published his first encyclical — the Magnifica Humanitas — aligning himself with the same wavelength as John Paul II. The title reflects, in different words, exactly the same content as the assertion of the “whole human”: in the Magnifica Humanitas, the identity of the human person and their commitment to the common good is revisited in the circumstances of the present moment.

All of this also in light of the prospects that artificial intelligence brings with it, with the so-called transhumanism or even posthumanism. The Pope, with this encyclical, brings us back to our reality as protagonists of history, but protagonists as human beings in the broadest and most complete sense of the term.
