The Italian women’s Field Lacrosse National Team has won gold at the Second Division World Championship
WROCLAW (POLAND) – A significant recognition has arrived for one of the perhaps lesser-known sports in Italy but a forthcoming Olympic discipline at the Los Angeles 2028 Games. From July 11 to 18, the Second Division World Championships of Field Lacrosse took place.
The women’s national team achieved the feat of winning the gold medal, defeating Mexico in the final with a score of 11-4, and the blue player Elise Fawcett was named the Best Player of the tournament.
A confirmation of the growth that this sport is experiencing in Italy, also thanks to the silver medal won at last year’s Men’s European Championships in Wroclaw, using the same Olympic format as the Sixes.
By defeating Mexico 11-4 in the final, the Italian Women’s National Field Lacrosse Team won the Second Division World Championship held from July 11 to 18, 2026, in Wroclaw (Poland).
